Fiscal Health of the Networks: Data, Next Steps and Implications

How healthy is your network? How can the fiscal health of a network be compared to a more traditional nonprofit? The Finance Project will share new research on how non-profit and sponsored organizations define fiscal health as well as the overall fiscal standing of statewide afterschool networks. Managing Cash Flow and Growing Reserves

Cash flow challenges are not new for statewide afterschool networks. Many networks’ funding sources are structured as contracts with state agencies or offices that are paid on an incremental basis upon the completion of deliverables and projects. In the best of times, this structure can be challenging; in the past few years, these challenges have been exacerbated by tight budgets at the state and federal level. Participants will learn how network leads have executed successful strategies for managing cash flow and building strategic reserves.
