J Cole

Roc Nation
The first hip hop artist signed to Roc Nation, the 26 year-old rapper isn’t letting hip-hop’s most powerful co-sign go to his head. Instead, J. COLE remains humble while crafting his debut album, filled with brilliantly penned reality raps rooted in society’s shared struggle. “I feel like I’m touching on topics that haven’t been touched on in a long time and I’m doing it in a way that hasn’t been done before,” says the MC born Jermaine Cole. “I’m definitely bringing back creative story telling. I’m not trying to go way over your head and I’m not trying to dumb it down either, I’m meeting you in the middle.” With the ability to write thought provoking songs packed with sharp wit and clever lines, Cole’s is able to connect with listeners in a way that is seldom seen amongst MCs today. “I think I can really tap into certain emotions and draw you in,” he says. “I have songs where you will literally zone out and forget you were driving or forget you were on the train. I have a lot of different themes in my music. I don’t want my persona to be the everyday Joe but I want to speak their voice.”
