How do we create the opportunity and access for students to be in the center of the learning process and be engaged as co-creators in learning? As leaders in the afterschool field we need to “...think about new and creative ways to engage young people in science and engineering, whether it’s science festivals, robotics competitions, fairs that encourage young people to create and build and invent — to be makers of things, not just consumers of things,” as President Obama challenged us when launching the “Educate to Innovate” campaign.
