By infusing a range of arts and creativity in afterschool and summer learning programs, we address an essential opportunity gap for children and youth. Networks and intermediaries play a key role in linking artists and educators and aligning arts experiences with core academic curriculum and standards. Participants will consider strategies to engage with educators, afterschool and summer programs to help broaden learning and how the arts and afterschool working together could address the role of state and local policy and funding to advance both efforts together. Musician Kevin Martin of Rockcreek Steel Drums will engage the participants in the power of teaching with the arts.
